Sizzix Die Cutting Machine Review

There are many scrapbook supplies on the market today. I have been scrapbooking for a few years now and have many tools I use for beautiful scrapbook pages. I like to try many new scrapbook techniques, trends and any new cutting tools available on my pursuit to the perfect scrapbook page layout. The ProvoCraft and Ellison Sizzix die cutting machine is one that has helped me to better my pages. Once done I have one creative scrapbook.

There are many advantages to owning the Sizzix machine. I purchased my cutting machine from Michael’s craft store for 45.00. I was lucky to have a 50% off coupon. Without a coupon it retailed at 89.99. You can find them less expensive now. The Sizzix machine is for sale at Joann Fabrics, Joann’s Etc. and A.C. Moore. It is very durable. This die cutter was made for personal use. The Sizzix is very user friendly, all you do is add your choice of scrapbook paper onto the cutting plate, put the die of choice on top, slide the cutting plate under and pull down the lever down and you should have your paper die . You can have your scrapbook letter, shape or phrase in just seconds. They suggest you use one piece of paper at a time so the die doesn't dull to quickly. There are a wide variety of dies to choose from. There are many different styles of alphabet letters, numbers and shapes on the market. Special occasion die sets such as baby boy or baby girl, school, camping, dog, cats and many more. Holiday themes are also available Christmas, Halloween, and Easter to mention a few. These are perfect for your themed scrapbook albums. The dies also range from small to large sizes. So you can build around them or add them to any element on your scrapbook page. You can use many different materials with this machine. Different thickness of scrapbook card stock paper, felt, rubber, chipboard, fabric and foam. I like to add scrapbook embellishments to my die cuts like charms, ribbon or glitter. Also available are a variety of dry embossing folders. Which can be perfect for framing your photo. Even though it says you can only use sizzix dies with this machine. I have found that the Sizzlits, Cuddlebug and Quickutz dies can be easily used. This machine isn't only limited for the use in scrapbooking. You can use it for card making or for children's crafts. The possibilities are endless.

There are a few disadvantages with this machine. Even though there are a wide variety of die available you are still limited to use what they have to offer as far as designs. No custom scrapbook designing here. The machine is a little on the heavy side to carry. So you will not be able to take it to a scrapbook party or cropping class. You have to buy the Sizzix system converter separately so you can use the sizzlits dies. I paid an additional 12.00 for mine. I personally thought it should have been included with the Sizzix machine. You also have to use a shim when the die cut doesn't go all the way through the material of choice. The alphabet die sets are a little on the expensive side. Where I live they cost 190.00. The advantage of living near a craft supply store is the 50% off coupon. But I have also seen a lot of reasonably priced die sets on eBay and Amazon.

I am a mother of 4 without a lot of time to spend on detail. It enables me to get through scrapbook pages quicker which save me time on tracing and cutting by hand all the designs that I want to add to my scrapbook page layouts. The Sizzix machine helps me to fill up a themed scrapbook album sooner. There are many different designs for scrapbooking ideas and layouts. All you have to do is use your imagination and have fun. This is something to hand down from generation to generation. I give this product a 3.5 out of 5.

Thank you for reading my review.
